Ever feel like you’re drowning in options? I was just thinking about this – like, when you’re picking a movie to watch or choosing what book to dive into next, what pulls you in? Is it the shiny new release that everyone’s hyped about, or the classic that’s been sitting on your list for years? For me, I gotta say – I’m all about the classics.
New is overvalued relative to great.
– Ray Dalio
I know new stuff can be exciting. But you know what’s even better? Something that’s stood the test of time. I mean, there’s a reason people keep going back to the same books, movies, or songs. They’re good. Proven. Reliable. And they leave a lasting impression, right?
It’s like when I first discovered The Catcher in the Rye. Everyone had already read it, but when I finally did, it hit different. Way more than any random bestseller. It’s like these things have layers, and every time you revisit them, you get something new out of it.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying the newest thing isn’t good. It might be! But there’s something smarter, maybe even a little comforting, about picking the great over the new. You already know it’s going to deliver.
They’re classics for a reason.
