MVP is not PMF

PMF and MVP

Product/Market Fit (PMF) and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) – two terms that often confuse. It’s easy to mix them up.

Think of the MVP as the “test run.” It’s the first basic version of your product that lets you see if people even want what you’re offering. It’s not supposed to be perfect; it’s just there to get feedback and help you learn. However, just because you have an MVP doesn’t mean you’ve hit PMF.

PMF, on the other hand, is like when your product becomes something people can’t live without. You know you’ve hit PMF when customers would be genuinely upset if your product disappeared tomorrow. It’s not about having some users – it’s about creating something essential to them. Sad but true, I’m still seeking that for Rwiz.AI.

The confusion? A lot of folks think launching an MVP means they’re already on the PMF train. Nope! PMF takes time, tweaks, and a lot of listening to what your users say. You might need to pivot, change things up, and evolve before you get there.

MVP is the start – PMF is the goal!
