50 Mental Models Sorted by Popularity

I love mental models, and I keep training myself to recognize them when I’m analyzing my behavior or other people’s. Some of the common ones are the Pareto Principle, First Principles Thinking, Lindy Effect, Occam’s Razor, survivorship bias, and the Dunning-Kruger effect. But there are a lot more useful ones.

I collected the 50 most popular ones and sorted them by popularity.

BTW, a lot of them are covered in a wonderful book: Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman.

A list of common mental models and cognitive biases, each briefly defined for better understanding and application in analysis.
