ChatGPT Bias Toward 42 Changes with Temperature and Language
Ask ChatGPT: Choose an integer number between 1 and 100.
And you will get the bias towards the number 42 (influenced by "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") but as the temperature setting rises, responses become more varied, increasing entropy (a measure of randomness). Language differences also affect GPT's biases; for example, when prompted in Chinese, the preference for 42 disappeared, replaced by 57.
