ChatGPT referral traffic is shifting toward answer-first content

Hm, that's interesting - referral traffic from ChatGPT dropped -52% since July 21.

However: ➡️ Reddit citations surged +87% (10% share of all citations). ➡️ Wikipedia citations rose +62% (nearly 13% share). ➡️ Top 3 sites (Wikipedia, Reddit, TechRadar) now capture 22% of all citations, up +53%.

ChatGPT is rewarding sites with direct answers over branded/overbloat-heavy content; brands that prioritize "Schedule a demo" lose out to communities with real comparisons and guides. OpenAI seems to be manually tuning results to favor high-utility answers.

What does it mean? Content is the key (Captain Obvious is here). Answer-first content wins; create comparison guides, answer real questions, speak in customer language.
