StackOverflow’s decline feels hard to ignore

StackOverflow feels like it’s on life support.

Back in March 2023, there were 87k+ new questions. By December 2024? Only 25k. That’s a 70% drop in less than 2 years. The last time it was this quiet was 2009.

It’s not just ChatGPT stealing the spotlight. The decline started way before - with users calling out the hostile vibes and bad community management. Add a corporate shake-up, and the magic kind of faded.

If things keep sliding, it might not even make it past 2026. What do you think? Is there hope, or is SO already gone?
