AI Adoption Is a UX Problem

It’s not the tech that’s holding AI back - it’s the user experience. Nan Yu from Linear said it best: “AI adoption is a UX problem.” It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of AI capabilities, but if people can’t actually use it easily - or don’t know where to start - it’s not going to matter. The tech could be brilliant, but if the interface feels clunky or intimidating, people won’t use it.

In my previous blog post about patterns, I mentioned how knowledge itself is really just patterns. The same goes for UX – it’s a set of design patterns we learn, reuse, and recognize. We're not fully there yet in training models to understand UX, but I think it’s coming. UX has structure. And structure can be learned. If models can be trained to spot and recreate language, music, or code patterns, why not UX flows too?
