AI Is Eating the Internet and Changing Content Distribution

Just read a piece called "AI is Eating the Internet". It helped me connect the dots on what’s happening online right now.

The article explains how we used to have a kind of deal: we got free content, and in return, platforms like Google and Facebook made billions from ads. But now, AI is flipping that whole model. Instead of sending people to websites, AI tools like ChatGPT just give the answer - no clicks, no traffic. Content becomes fuel for training.

1️⃣ Google’s big shift - they’re now showing AI answers in search, even if it kills their own traffic. 2️⃣ "Pay to crawl" is coming - sites are starting to charge AI bots for access. Cloudflare, Reddit, and others are already doing it. 3️⃣ People are retreating to smaller spaces: newsletters, private chats, and communities feel more human - that’s what we’re looking for in an AI-saturated world.
