Why busyness became a religion

Oh, that one is great. The author of the article contemplating about the busyness.

Modern culture has turned busyness into a religion - a performance of constant motion that signals:

importance ambition worth

Work tools have become sacred objects, filled calendars and exhaustion - a badge of honor. We no longer simply do things - we become our productivity.

This obsession is less about efficiency - more about managing fear:

fear of irrelevance silence facing who we are without achievement

We self-exploit/micromanaging/ourselves even without bosses, mixing fatigue with meaning.

Even leisure has been monetized/optimized/converted into productivity metric.

What lays under that?

GRIEF

... for the lives and selves we abandoned while performing usefulness.

Stillness terrifies us ... because it reveals uncomfortable truths:

loneliness unasked questions unmet desires

However the most meaningful parts of life: creativity, love, self-knowledge - it all arise in idle/unstructured time.

The antidote - a willingness to pause, reclaim boredom, and getting outside to touch some grass, let life be lived rather than managed.
