Why I Stopped Drinking Alcohol and Stopped Caring

I stopped drinking alcohol about 5 years ago, and most people around me still don’t get it. They often ask, “Why? Do you have a problem?” Explaining that it just doesn’t work well for my body never seems to satisfy them.

The hardest part about not drinking is how much alcohol is tied to social situations. It’s like a social lubricant, and when everyone else is drinking, being the one sipping water can feel awkward. At first, it was tough to deal with, but over time, I’ve grown thicker skin and stopped caring. Now, I just focus on having fun and enjoying time with people - no alcohol needed.
