Cursor Fixed ChordIQ and Migrated Apps After Google Takedown

About a couple of years ago, my app ChordIQ was removed by Google because it didn’t comply with the new terms.

The subscription wasn’t clearly saying it was a price per year - it only said "PRO for a year". That was enough to get it taken down.

Normally, this would be a quick fix. But I had made a huge mistake years ago when choosing cross-platform and betting on Xamarin. Back then it was a separate company, later bought by Microsoft, and eventually they decided everyone should move to MAUI and basically abandon Xamarin.Forms.

Which meant one thing: rewrite everything.

Same story with Piano Companion on iOS - another migration, this time from Xamarin to .NET 9. I asked a developer to help me with the migration of ChordIQ, but some issues were left unresolved. And when I was fully overloaded running KidTeller, I just didn’t have the time or energy to fix it properly.

The turning point came during lunch with @maks6361.

He casually said: why haven’t you tried asking Cursor to fix it?

I explained that, well… this isn’t Python or NextJS, it’s not super popular, and I didn’t think Claude or Cursor would really be able to help. Max just shrugged (I’m pretty sure Max thought: well, I’d try anyway)

A couple of days later, I realized the obvious - trying costs exactly zero dollars.

I was already juggling 4 projects at the same time: planning features, reviewing work, asking for changes, reviewing again. So I thought - fine, let’s give it a shot.

Hell yeah!

After about 20 minutes, both projects were fully functional. It honestly felt like a miracle. I tested it briefly - most of the functionality worked just fine - pushed the update and google recovered ChordIQ on the next day.

Piano Companion for iOS has already been upgraded, but it needs to be tested more thoroughly due to its large user base.

Both projects have now been fully upgraded automatically, and I didn't change a single line of code myself.

What a time to be alive.

I also have another great story about how I built a small project to help my wife manage real estate in just a couple of days - but that’s a post for next time.
