Google Puts AI in Orbit as Starcloud Runs Gemma in Space

Google joined the race to put AI into space. Starcloud just proved it’s possible by running Google’s Gemma model on an Nvidia H100 in orbit - the first high-power AI compute ever to operate off-planet that trained NanoGPT on Shakespeare.

Orbital data centers could solve Earth’s growing energy problem with constant solar power and up to 10x lower costs. A 5-GW space compute station is already in planning.

Now the race is getting crowded. 🔥

Google, Nvidia, Lonestar, Aetherflux, and Starcloud are pushing hard. Bezos and Musk have joined in too, with Blue Origin and SpaceX developing their own orbital data-center concepts.
