Why great writing feels alive and AI writing feels flat

Why does great writing feel alive, while AI writing often feels flat?

I recently read about a project exploring the "heartbeat" of prose - how great authors like Hemingway/Woolf use rhythm, surprise, and variance to create emotion. How(why?) the words flow. You can actually measure it: spikes of surprise, calm, the cadence.

That idea is quite interesting because it’s something I keep thinking about while working on KidTeller. Stories for kids also should have rhythm, tone, and feeling. The right word at the right moment can light up a child’s imagination.

It would be great to incorporate it into the story engine which is already quite complex with a mixture of different agents.
