Why meaning in life matters more than searching for it

People who have meaning in life are substantially less depressed. I’m sure you know both types of people if you think about it. I love that some observations you make during your life can be validated by external studies and sources.

According to the recent meta-analysis, having meaning (life makes sense and has value) is MUCH more important than endless searching for it.

The idea of meaning is explained in three things:

  1. coherence - my life makes sense
  2. purpose - I have direction
  3. significance - my existence has value

They think that meaning is a psychological resource. Its role to maintain direction during adversity and shapes how we respond to negative events.

Have meaning and enjoy your Friday!
