MIT Study Finds AI Could Replace 11.7% of US Workforce

🤔 MIT published a study revealing that AI systems already have the technical capability to replace work equivalent to 11.7% of the U.S. workforce (~$1.2 trillion in wages) across industries:

finance health care logistics professional services

The research is based on the Iceberg Index (a simulation platform built with Oak Ridge National Laboratory) by modeling 151 million workers as individual agents each mapped by skills/occupation/geographic location.

The study found that highly visible job losses in tech represent only a small fraction of total risk - far greater exposure exists in routine office/business functions.
